Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress best known for her roles in the roles of Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace, originally from Worthington located in Ohio dropped out high school and moved to Los Angeles after her divorced parents. She was struggling to make ends meet when she got her first part in the acting world in the film Rachel's Room's leading character. The television film Murder in Greenwich that she appeared in, where she played a 15-year-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination for the Young Artist Award. In 2004, Grace was cast as Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost in which she acted as a principal character for the initial two seasons winning an award called the Screen Actors Guild Award shared by the entire cast. Grace was keen to pursue film after playing opposite Tom Welling's character, The Fog, in 2005. The role she played was Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken the year 2008) as Suburban Girl as well as the Jane Austen Book Club. She reprised this role in Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). The actress also appeared in Alice in Malice in Wonderland which is the modern-day adaptation of the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to Shannon's character as Shannon in Lost for two more episodes, including the finale of the series. In 2013 she appears in the sixth season of Californication. She portrays Faith who's both an avid stargazer as well as a socialite. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. She's a Gyllenhaal. daughter of Stephen Gyllenhaal (director) and Naomi Achs (producer), as well as more senior than Jake Gyllenhaal. She began her career when she was a teenager, playing small roles in several of his films. She also appeared with her brother in the popular cult film Donnie Darko (2001). Later, she was on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim in both of her roles as the lead of Secretary (2002) which is the erotic drama about romance as well as Sherrybaby (2006). She was also nominated for The Golden Globe Award. Following a string of commercially successful movies in 2006, including World Trade Center she received more attention for her role as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). As an unmarried mother in Crazy Heart (2009) she received a nomination for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her subsequent roles include Nanny McPhee as well as the Big Bang and Hysteria. The other roles she played were a Secret Service agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013) and a musician in Frank (2014) as well as her role as the lead in the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal was first introduced as a director and writer in 2021, with the drama about psychological issues The Lost Daughter. For this movie, she received the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award.
